What is a local AI model and how is it different from Claude?

Local models (like Google Gemma or Meta Llama) run entirely on your machine using Ollama. No data is sent to any server — inference happens on-device. Claude is a cloud-based model from Anthropic and requires an API connection. Local models are free to run after setup but are less capable than Claude for complex reasoning. For many everyday business tasks — summarising documents, answering internal questions, drafting templates — a local model is more than sufficient.

Do I need a powerful machine to run a local AI model?

A modern Mac Mini (M2 or M4) handles Gemma and similar models comfortably. Older hardware may work but with slower response times. We assess your hardware during the needs call and recommend accordingly — if an upgrade is needed, a refurbished Mac Mini is included in our hardware bundles.

Can I use a local model and Claude together?

Yes — that's actually the best setup for most businesses. OpenClaw can route routine or sensitive tasks to the local model (free, private) and complex reasoning tasks to Claude (API-based). You get the best of both: cost control and privacy where it matters, full Claude capability when you need it.

What's included in the setup fee?

Every setup includes tool installation, configuration, security hardening, integration with your existing systems, a hands-on training session, and post-setup documentation. You'll be fully operational and self-sufficient when we're done.

Do I need technical knowledge to use these tools?

Not at all. Cowork and Claude in Chrome are designed for non-technical users. We tailor the training to your team's comfort level and set everything up so it just works.

What are the ongoing costs after setup?

You'll need a Claude Pro or Team subscription ($20-25/month from Anthropic). If you choose cloud hosting, you'll pay Hetzner directly for server costs. Our optional support retainer is $29/month.

Can you build custom automations for my specific business?

Yes — that's what Custom Workflow Development is for. We map your processes, build tailored workflows, train your staff, and iterate as your needs evolve. Charged at $18/hr or quoted per project.

How long does a typical setup take?

Most software setups are completed within a single session. Mac Mini deployments may take 1-2 days for hardware preparation. Custom workflow projects vary based on complexity — we'll give you a clear timeline upfront.
